Open-end funds issue tokens if investors are willing to buy them. Tokens are issued during pre-determined subscription phases and can be redeemed during pre-determined redemption phases. The frequency of these phases reflects the liquidity of the portfolio. The more liquid the fund’s portfolio, the more often subscriptions and redemptions are accommodated because it is easier for the fund manager to adjust their portfolio accordingly.
